Construction of the SMF Pipeline
Wickland directly manages all our construction projects to ensure they are constructed safely, completed in a timely manner and within budget, meet the requirements of the project drawings and specifications and are in compliance with all federal, state and local laws, regulations, permits and codes. Wickland's internal inspectors are highly experienced and bring a wealth of knowledge in multiple disciplines, industry codes and standards. Our third-party inspectors are carefully selected and when required they are OQ (Operator Qualification) certified in accordance with 49 CFR Part 195.
Pipeline Integrity Assurance:
Wickland inspects its pipelines with the latest technology. "Smart pigs" are internal inspection tools that are loaded into the pipeline and are carried through the line by the flow of product to help identify early signals of potential integrity concerns such as thinning pipe walls or dents caused by third party excavation equipment that have struck our pipeline without our knowledge. The smart pigs have onboard computers that can detect corrosion, dents, and other anomalies and provide us with details on their location.
Corrosion prevention is a major focus for Wickland. We utilize many techniques to monitor the pipeline to ensure the pipeline does not corrode.
